The Best Gig They've Ever Done - Twenty One Pilots Live, Clancy Tour Review.

I've seen Twenty One Pilots four times over the last ten years and this was by far their best gig. As sentimental as I am for the first two times I saw them live, those eras and lore of that time, nothing could beat this performance.

Whilst they've always been incredible performers, there's something about watching these men grow into such confident performers in comparison to a decade ago. I mean, if you told little me that we'd get the Joshua Dun singing on stage, she'd literally laugh in your face and then proceed to faint after she realises you're telling the truth. As parasocial as it sounds, Tyler's confidence glows these days. He used to have a small speech back in the day, and now he speaks more, dances more, jokes more. In the most literal way possible, many of us have grown with them, and that feeling is right in that room with us all - you can feel it, physically.

However, I have beef with the O2. From our seats, which weren't right at the back but fairly high, the bass and balance of all components of the music were way too unaligned. The first few songs literally sounded like Tyler wasn't singing in time purely because of how unbalanced the venue had the music. The O2 is massive to the point where if you're right at the back, there's a tiny sound delay. So, in a way, it's inevitable.

After disliking Scaled and Icy, I was extremely apprehensive of a new album, but if you're new here, I've been it's biggest fan since it released last year. Hearing Backslide, Overcompensate, Midwest Indigo live amongst Trees, Stressed Out, Doubt... it was incredibly hard for me to not be emotional on the night, and even now as I type this.

I honestly could praise these two men for years, if I tried, and trust me, that's a sentence I don't want to say, ew. But there's something so beautiful about this tour and their gigs this year. From an incredibly perfectly selected setlist (minus missing laneboy and at the risk of sounding dumb...) to bringing out kid fans to sing with them, to using the ENTIRE space of the venue, there's not one thing these boys miss, and to be honest, if there was after ten years plus of doing this, I'd be concerned.

Whilst the Clancy tour is over (crying), whenever they come back, I will be there and you should be too - after a decade of seeing hundreds of artists live, they are and always remain the best performers and musicians.
